Chanelle had just handed me a jack-o-lantern and asked me to .own it when the disembodied voice spoke in my mind. "Help! There are outlaws northwest of the Yew moongate. I killed one but there are too many." Simon exclaimed. I msg'd him back saying I'd gather up some fell handed adventurers and we'd arrive to join him in slaying this latest menace to the peace and serentity of the World. Time passed as I announced the latest threat to various persons in the Britain bank and Simon msg'd me two or three more times, each repetition sounding more impatient. Soon, we had a group and with stern mien we rode to Yew.
The outlaw bands have been steadily increasing in size and potency over the last week or so. When they first sprang up, there were just a few at a time and they weren't that great at fighting. But, warriors, knights and potent mages have joined the bands in ever increasing numbers. When we arrived at Yew, I was astonished at the quantity of opponents.
Angelica, Thomas and I rode with Simon Van Gothe to confront the foe and it was a serious confrontation. Simon rode up and Assassins sprung from the ground like twisted blooms, poisoned blades flashing. Mounted outlaw fighters bellowed war cries as they charged towards us. I noticed that Simon was taking on three or four at once and rode over to help. One went down and then another. More outlaws joined their fellows and then a nightmare, freed from his outlaw rider began to spit out balls of burning flame, I heard a despairing shriek and Simon fell to the ground. I retreated to heal and finished off the other mounted fighters before returning to where Thomas and Angelica worked the outlaws like a finely honed blade of destruction.
Together, the three of us polished off the first onslaught and at that moment, Augur Wildwood, Ki'Anna Stydoran and Covenant Atei rode up. Simon stopped "OOooOOoo"ing as he was resurrected and we all caught our breaths. Then we moved northwest and encountered more mounted fighters, mages, archers and assassins. It was more controlled this time, with more mages in the group and we methodically cleared the area. A person I don't know, Daeric, appeared and asked Ki'Anna to talk somewhere. They left through a portal and we all wondered where more outlaws might be. There was blood in our eyes, blood on our cloaks, our horses, our shields and weapons, oh my, it was a mess out there!
Then, with hardly pausing to catch our breaths, we entered a portal to Occlo. The outlaw camp there was overflowing with green garbed foe that scowled as they attacked. Someone rode upwards toward the camp a bit ahead of us all and triggered an onslaught of foe. For a few minutes, it was all chaos with a veritable tide of red glowing outlaws flowing over us. The group hadn't had a chance to really get organized and we scattered into islands of fury, beating off the outlaws that assailed us. Eventually, we joined together again and presented a united front as Sachiko and Wynne joined our ranks. We organized again and cleared the area with an immense effort.
Ki'Anna must have msg'd Atei or Thomas because we were urged to go to Britain to meet her. We went there, rebuffed and she opened a portal to Vesper. Supposedly, there was a very large band at the camp just northwest of the city. Indeed there was. This battle raged on and on. Skeeter Byrch and Avyn Asu had joined us now and there was little the outlaws could do to hope to prevail against the united front we presented. It was a bloody harvest that night and all performed heroically. The combination of tanks, healers, mages and archers was too much for any foe to withstand.
After the battle, we gathered in Vesper and discussed the high points as we made a split of the loot. More outlaws camps were going to be investigated but we decided to take a break for half and hour or so. I joined Sachiko for a time, watching her decorate her house on the Britain road with Halloween decorations. I msg'd with Wynne for a bit and kept checking back with Covenant to see when we would be traveling to Minoc but something went awry and as it got later and later in the evening, I decided to just check it out myself. Imagine my surprise to find Loakie looting bodies in the midst of a scene of awesome carnage! "Oh yeah, everyone went to Jhelom, I'm just cleaning up." he informed me. I traveled to Jhelom and briefly joined a battle and then, seeing that there were even more adventurers in this battle than any of the others, I headed home. I certainly wasn't needed anymore and my old bones were aching from all the battle.
I wonder what is going to happen with the outlaws. They are growing more and more numerous and powerful. We cannot ignore them, they do not wish to speak to us. I imagine if we tried to ignore them, they would just start invading the cities, no matter that they say they will not. The World in is turmoil.
