Entry 15: Ajax
Well, while it is true that, on the surface, the entire snake-training thing was not a great success the first time, we DID, after all, kill a couple of evildoers as a result. Besides, I still think an animal epic is good show business. So I resolved to try again. I called him Longfellow III, sort of after Penn-Hedley.
I had been thinking. The best way to use a trained attack snake would be against a spell caster or archer of some sort. They aren’t that effective against heavy warriors, but they might be good distractions on the other types.
Since Henke the marksman was in the neighborhood, we decided to try him first. Well, to be honest, I made that decision alone, without getting the snake’s opinion. Perhaps that was a mistake. Once we started the attack, though, I would have had to talk fast when I asked him, because he was dead in no time at all. Soon, there was plenty of time, because I was also dead.

Fighting pirates brought nothing but pains;

So I was runnin’ around tryin’ ta git his a-tension an’ I stirred up a new chap, a pirate brute name of Kenya. Pirate brutes, in contrarywise wit’ marksmen, are more than dee-lighted to chase a feller, an’ ‘e did. Then ol’ ‘enke the marksman made a lil’ fo-paw as the dandys say. ‘e threw one a’ them bombs at Kenya an’ me. Pirate brutes are NOT known fer there sporty senses a’ ‘umor, as yer may know. Kenya left me standin’ thar like I wuz the sister ‘e ‘ad ta take ta the dance and jumped all over that marksman. Whilst they wuz disc-cussin’ things, I slipped over and gathered up Ajax’s things. Usually these “family squabblesâ€
