Pummelled by Pumice

The Short:

A quest was given by the royal alchemist who sent us deep into a dungeon to retrieve a rare alchemical ingredient.

The Long:

Ciara and Belmont were off through the streets of Britain, whereupon they were encountered by a humble servant of the queen. Belmont, rash, reckless and brave, was predisposed to leave at once, but the two women were quick to calm him, and suggest that aid was needed. Joram Lionheart (no doubt back from yet another heroic quest!) met up with the group, and was happy to offer his courage to the trio. From there, word was dispatched via messengers to other hearty souls about Britain, who each answered the call. Among them were;

Ciara, Belmont and Joram Lionheart
Caramon, Leodoc Hale, Dan Haven, Novak Thanatos and Cathavene.

The brave group was then ordered to visit the Fellowship Hall, known as a repository of lore and knowledge about the realms. Joram was quick to find the book, which suggested that pumice lay in a group of mountains near Wrong. Following the clues, the group investigated the surrounding caves, finding none of the pumice mentioned. Finally, it was suggested that they venture deep into the dungeon, and search there.

The group valiantly entered the dungeon smiting left and right, with few losses. Coming to the deepest part of the dungeon, the group surmised a plan that they should race through the thickest part of the enemies, with brave Joram in the lead, drawing fire. This they attempted to do, and died horribly. Every single one of them.

But lo! The quest was not yet done. To their noble aid came;

Crozius Eisengrim, Dracvich, Anita Bloodoak (and Jefahn the Great Dragon), and Wolfy.

They summarily saved the day and smote the monsters. Moving through the dungeon, the now-larger group found the amazing pumice stone, and Ciara was quoted to admiring it's colour (guess what colour that was ;) ) The group could not pick up the heavy rock, so they instead decided to mine portions of it away. This seemed to anger the rock (not a typo) which began speaking! Then, the rock itself rose up, and fought the attackers!

Fortunately, Belmont, who was separated from the group, appealed to the Pumice Guardians as quickly as his breathren slew them. Through reminding the pumice of the Virtue of Sacrifice, and the deadly spells and steel of the brave band, they were finally victorious, and the pumice was collected.

Returning to the castle, the band told of what they had faced, and the pumice collected. The alchemist returned to her laboratory with the substance, promising to tell more when she found results.

Honourable mention goes to all involved, for facing terrible odds yet prevailing in the end, with courage and valor.

And where was Marius through all this, you might ask?

That is a story for another day. :twisted:

Mwahahahahahahaha!

Hahah, good one. Thanks for doing the writeup, by the way. I'm always lazy to do these things :P

Ps. I still think my plan would've worked if we would have been able to regroup by the portal room. Too bad we didn't count on them being able to blind us. Of course, that didn't stop me from making it to the rendezvous point but I didn't count on one of those wisp-like things being there already (methinks the seer heard of our strategy and planted one there to wait for me, hehe. Next time I'll have to msg you the plan in private!).

It was a pleasure dying with all of you :) One other thing the Queens alchemist mentioned was that pumice was a very ancient reagent, dating from even before Azinith(sp). She said that it was possible (or maybe I just got this impression) that the voice we heard from the pumice was a spirit that had been transferred into it, even possibly Azinith's spirit. So it looks like he is not finished with us yet.
