UO on a Mac?

Postby Duan on Wed Jul 14, 2004 12:10 am

Apologies if this has already been discussed (I did a search before posting with no success) - please direct me to the relevant topics if this is the case. But...

Does anyone know if it’s possible to run UO on a Mac with OS X? If so, how? I’ve been searching on Google for days now and nothing has come up other than a suggestion that it could work through Virtual PC, an emulator from Microsoft (which doesn’t support DirectX, so I don’t see how).

Do any of you guys know of a way? I completely appreciate any advice.

P.S. Anyone who tells me to buy a PC will get a slap. Nothing could be as sexy as this iBook. I want to give it huggles, and I'm English for god's sake.

Not sure. I know it'll run under Linux with Wine just fine, but don't forget you're going to need a real mouse to play, not that crappy one button thing :P

Trust me, I ran out and got a proper mouse about ten minutes after starting the thing up. The trackpad/one-button double-team was too much.

Also, would Wine run through OS X? It's meant to be Linux based, I think...

I know people are working on it, not sure how usable it is yet.

Thanks. It still looks to be in the development stages but I'll bookmark and keep an eye on it. I'm near a PC nowadays, so I can play UO on that for the time being (I was thinking ahead for university days).
