The infamous speechbug

Postby Nitram on Mon May 19, 2003 5:26 pm

The normal solution with deleting transerv.exe and speech.mul - then restarting your client - sometimes doesn't work.

I've even experienced this with people with the same client as mine, and it's quite frustrating.

Right now I'm using 3.0.8q - what would you suggest as the perfect client to avoid the speechbug (preferable not a 4.x.x as the status bar looks like some a 5 year old drew).

Any input is appreciated :)

As far as I know, the only bug is with speech.mul, and deleting that file takes care of it. I'm afraid I can't help you any further with that.

for 2D clients at v3.x, you just simply delete/rename the file to something other than speech.mul

4.x Clients are freaky. I've found that some are causing massive problems with freezing (like 4.0.0l), so I am suggesting 4.0.0b since it crashes *less often* for me... and I do believe, that just simply deleting the speech.mul will work. Unless you are using Unicode... then I have no clue :x

3D clients, just don't work. I have yet to find a solution to 3D clients and speech.mul for any version of it. I don't even think POLHook as found a solution to that, as Folko doesn't have 3D installed to work on it :x

UO Rice

You need to crack the client with UO rice, then set the POL client as ignition.
Finally you need to delete speech.mul

Hope this helps
