War Continuance and another note.

Felt like picking some chests in Despise so I gated there with Cedrik, and the instant I stepped out of my gate, I was attacked and killed by many Branubians. Luckily I made it back through the gate and was ressed by Conrad. I told him to wait at the bank while I switched to Kale. After reaching the bank, now as Kale, I met up with Conrad and Argyll Kaie (sp?) who had also answered my call. Cobrad and I waited for Argyll to reach the bottom of the mountain pass to Despise and send us a gate. Upon entering the gate we learned that the Nubians were also in the pass. We began our fight towards Despise, being joined along the way by a few others (Silivan, Loakie, Strade Silverbow, Avyn Asu, and a couple others). I asked Edison to come help and he, along with Malacin, Cloudchaser and im sure a couple more gated to Despise and began working towards us. By the time my crew had reached the end of the pass, we met up with Ed's crew. Clearing the rest of the area we found a note on a corpse which reads:

Branubians & Shabooli:
Those named Pau Atei, Thomas, Ciara and Anna Bassett are the ones we are looking for, they are the ones that found the components. Get those 4 or they will all suffer.....
SOON!!!
Gruedon

Sorry if I missed names.
Thanks for all the fun.

Strange that they didn´t mention George who also found a piece. Could it be because he gave it that piece for me to hold ?

There is sits in my bankbox waiting for orders from someone.

So, let me see if I have this right: as long as Thomas, Ciara, Maddox, Anna Bassett and I hang on to the pieces of that strange moongate, they can't leave? As long as we keep them safe and secure, they are stuck here and we get to pound on them some more? Sounds good to me.

Branubians, take heed: you will suffer dearly for attacking my home in Serpent's Hold. I have many powerful friends there (Gabriella, Shadowstone, my brother Aellius and his wife Nia, among others), and none of us takes kindly to having our city "infested." Let us not forget the Land's other heroes who will, at a moment's notice, drop what they are doing and rush to defend anyone so attacked.

You are cowards and you shall suffer a coward's fate: dishonorable death and defeat.

I strongly suggest that the rest of the folks named in that note be extra careful when returning to their homes as well.

These scum will rue the day they threatened the citizens and homes of Britannia!

After our adventure outside Despise, Magus, Edison, Malacin and I were at the bank in Nujelm. All of a sudden, Magus yelled "Branubian deathguards outside Ciara's!"

We ran outside and across the street there were two Deathguards skulking outside Ciara's, who, luckily wasn't at home. We dispatched them fairly quickly and one of them had a note:

"Come forth with the components or suffer the consequences. You and the rest of Brittania!"

I have warned Ciara to be on special alert, as she is in grave danger.

Aye, and they did attack near the Shoppe. Roc Silivan, Gemini, Olc and I dispatched them. We then went to Nujel'M and sure enough, they had surrounded Edison's place. Gabriella and Kahji joined us there and we sent the murdering lot to their graves. We found 2 notes:

1.) Our time is coming. These people will soon know what suffering is. Gruedon

2.) Stakeout and wait for them. They need to come home sometime! Gruedon

Late last evening (or early this morning) I received an urgent message that the Branubians had massed near Despise again. Azzo was there and he sent a gate for Kasia Stydoran, her henchies and me, and we bravely went.

What ensued was an epic battle that claimed nearly every hero there at least once. The Branubians were everywhere, as far as the eye could see, including in Despise. In addition, that foul place had its normal complement of Orcs, as I found out while trying to heal and flee at the same time. Once I was able to find a "safe" spot to regenerate my mana and head back to the main battle, I did. I died in the Cave of Choices (one stair leads up, the other down.) My brother Covenant came to aid the fight, and I will let him finish this recounting.

*Covenant Atei*

I messaged Amanil Tel'Imoen and together we gated to Despise. To say it was bad would be an understatement. The Branubian hordes were well-organized, fierce and deadly. At one point I was cornered, nearly out of mana and my only recourse was to recall, which I did. Sethlenara messaged me while I was preparing to return and I summoned her. Together we went back.

When we arrived some semblance of order had been restored. I had suggested to Amanil that if we cleared the Cave of Choices, we could use that as a staging area and a place to resurrect our fallen comrades, but that did not get done until the very end of the conflict.

In front of the Despise entrance we nearly had everyone back up and in fighting trim when the Branubian snipers attacked again. We threw them back and prepared to move forward with the group, together, slowly. From the path that leads to Despise we found another group of the Land's heroes fighting the good fight, and we quickly joined forces.

The Branubians were routed on our side of the small river that runs by Despise, but they were in great numbers across the water on the island. They attacked mercilessly and I soon fell. Eventually the forces on the isle were defeated and then the decision was made to clear them out of Despise, partially because some people were missing gear that had been looted and partially because these mongrels had succeeded in angering our group. We had decided it was time for them to pay a little price for invading our homes.

Eventually all of the Branubians fell, both inside and outside of Despise. As far as I know, everyone that lost items got them back and we returned to Britain.

A quick personal observation: we could learn a thing or two from these Branubians. They are well-organized, they don't rush into battle and they coordinate their attacks well between assassins, mages, archers and fighters.

*Thomas*

In the better late than never catagory.

Yesterday (Saturday) there was another contingent of Branubians ouside my home, they were not great in number, posslbly 30 and were dispatched with little problem by Thomas, Cloudchaser, Angelica, Malakim and Silivan.

The smalish number possibly indicates either a lack of intrest in repairing the portal or that thier numbers are dwindling.

East Britain was also checked and while there were a few found, they seemd to be only remnants of a force.

As always, thanks to those who attended and those who set it up.
