Jeez, that would make the oil Way too powerful.
Of course its not very fair that oldbies with hoarded exceptional clothes get all the fun.

Its time, I suppse, to reveal some more information about Benson. First, though, some general information about the magic spawning system:
Each type of NPC has 2 main attributes when it comes to dropping magic items: chance to drop a magic item (obvious) and quality rating of the magic item dropped (which is what I'm going to talk about.) Quality is rated on a scale of 1 to 10 and influences (but doesn't dictate) the actual quality of them item that is created. An item with a low quality rating will probably be bad, but there's a small chance that you'll get a good item. An item dropped from a monster with a higher quality rating will, on average, be better, but still may wind up being a bad item
When you give Benson a magic item, he'll give you some points depending on the previously mentioned quality. A really good magic item may not be worth that many points, while a poor magic item may be worth more
Once you get 100 points, you can buy a magic potion from Benson (say 'buy' to him - he'll charge you 10k gold for the potion, also.) You can use the potion on exceptional player-made armor (and a few other items that don't need to be exceptional - druid and necro staves, for example) and it will make it into a magic item. The magic quality of this item will be a 10 - the highest possible quality (though again, you may still wind up with a bad item - bring your lucky rabbits foot with you when you use the potion :) )
