Systram::loadError cannot load language pair 'ef'

I keep getting this msg whenever I start UO and someone tries to talk to me. Turns out my whole system interface is in french now! (*hates french!*). As a result, I can't read half the people's text while I'm online (though .msg works just fine). I really don't know how or why this happened. I haven't changed anything in my configuration gump or elsewhere in UO.
I'm going to try to download that language pair (I assume EF means english to french) from the UO website and see if that does anything. Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Ps. I'm all patched up in case you were wondering. I also have all my WoD files in order.

Interesting

Turning the translation server off fixes the problem (I can see everyone's text again) but those whose text I could not see before, now can't see mine. :) Should've know . . .

Just my luck, I can't download any of the language pairs for some reason. I don't even know which one of the UO files controls the language settings!

in uo.cfg you have:

UserLanguageCodeString=ENU*, but that is for asian/european customers that want to use english to help avoid crashes.

there is also a language
parameter but Stratics doesn't know what it does.

*search mode activated*

*bzzz*

*click whirrr*

ok, according to OSI:

Question
How do I change the default language in UO?

Answer
In order to change the language of the text you are seeing when playing Ultima Online exit UO, then open your uo.cfg file using notepad. UO.Cfg is located in the Ultima Online folder in your program files. Once you have this open, you will see a list of current settings. At the bottom of the list, add the following line:

UserLanguageCodeString=enu

The last three letters represent the language you wish displayed.

enu = English
kor = Korean
jpn = Japanese
deu = German
esp = Spanish
fra = French
cht = Chinese

After you have entered this line, save the uo.cfg file. Then launch UO and the new language should be displayed as you play the game.

Thanks, Bayn. I think that fixed it.
