Making the Adventurers Guild more intresting.

Postby Eldric on Fri Apr 16, 2004 7:32 pm

Each time you die there is a small, say something in the 1-5% range, chance of one random item you are wearing going missing, said item gets added to a list of missing gear that the guild can select from when making an item quest. The item is found (probably it needs to be non-usable in the form it is recovered in) and returned to the guild for guild points as ususal (perhaps there should be a premium for returning player items). The player who lost the item gets a note in his bank saying the item was found and they has X days to come to the guild and claim it. There should probably be a fee for this service either a charge of a couple thousand gold per plus of the item or a lesser number of guild points would work too.

Interesting idea, but what happens if the person who receives the quest fails? Also, this would be very inconvenient for the person who lost the item, and could lead to some problems there (i.e. b****ing)

Hehehehe.

Yeah it would be a bummer to walk around with second-hand gear because Bob the AG quester is taking forever to retrieve your plate chest of invul from Destard. Also, would a person who lost an item be able to get it him/herself (assuming he/she has an AG character)?
Either way, I fail to see how this is going to make people like the AG more :P

Ed, one of these days you're going to have to give me a straight definition of what the word "interesting" means to you :D

It varies somewhat based on the context I'm using it in. In the case of this thread it maps fairly close to "useful".

If such a system were put into place it would become one of the things that newcomers would be told about right at the start.

"Oh and let me show you this, over here in Trinsic is where you can claim missing stuff that is recovered from your deaths."

As opposed to the current.

"Oh there is an adventurers guild over in trinsic you might want to look at someday, maybe."

I'm just not thinking this would be a very popular idea... (which isn't necessarily the end of any idea, of course. I'm just not very sure what it would add to the game in the end to offset the unpopularness of it, if you know what I mean.)
