AG Quest Suggestions

Postby Zed on Sun Dec 15, 2002 1:23 pm

1. Could we have some find item quests in Famine and Ice?
2. Could the find item quests for Buc's Den be a little more accurately desribed? Perhaps along the lines of "Find Bob's shoes in the North of Buc's Den" OR
3. Could Buc's Den items be on a creature not normally found in Buc's.

2 and 3 above have been prompted by the fact that item quest on Buc's are much harder to find than anywhere else.

Actually the Buc's Den items are usually dead simple to find now, near as I can tell there is a random chance of finding the item on any mob killed in the target zone, and the whole island seems to be the target zone. Usually you get it in 5-10 kills.

AG quest items, and the MOB they are carried on are not generated until the quest is accepted. Therefore, ["near as I can tell there is a random chance of finding the item on any mob killed in the target zone, and the whole island seems to be the target zone. Usually you get it in 5-10 kills."] is not really accurate. If this has been the case whenever you have accepted an item quest in Buc's Den, then you have been extremely lucky, that's all. AG quests generate the appropriate item/MOB the same as guard quests do, and therefore, until you accept the quest, the critter carrying the item isn't even out there for you to kill.

That used to be the case, Celeste, but I rewrote that function, oh, a few months ago. It now works basically the way that Eldric said: each mob in the target area has a chance of dropping the item, assuming that they're killed by the person who accepted the quest. That way, there's no way for someone else who happens to be hunting in the area to get the item, which tends to make quests annoyingly difficult to complete.

I'll see about adding some quests to Famine and Ice (and maybe a few other place.) And actually, quests for Buc's Den probably should be a bit more difficult than they are now.

SWEET! Didn't know you could DO that! LOL I'll have to fiddle with my scripts a bit... I'll probably crash my server out, yet again, by doing so, but that sounds awesome! And, makes questing that much more simplified! All apologies then, to Eldric, on this issue. :)
