Issues connecting

Postby Knives83 on Fri Jul 16, 2004 2:00 pm

I have just joined the shard and am using a fresh install of AoS. I tried running the wodclient before and after patching and the client crashes when connecting. Does anyone have any ideas on whats wrong?

Thanks

Do you have the wodli.cfg file in your UO directory?

Yep!

yes I did and it still didn't work. I downloaded a fresh copy of wodli.cfg and it worked fine. Then I quit and when I went to start it up again, same problem.
Downloading a new config file hasn't fixed it this time though. I don't know what to do. Any suggestion?

How odd, umm, not really, If you are running windows XP, I have heard of the odd person having a problem were XP thinks the file is in use when it isn't, but I don't really know much about that flavour of windows...

I have had the file in use problem, but the only times to crash are when I tried patching and using a different client.

Make sure that the "wodli.cfg" has the right security settings. You need to turn simple file sharing off. Tools --> Folder Options ---> View Tab --> uncheck simple file share(its way down at the bottom)

Then find the wodli.cfg file. right click it. Then goto the Security tab. If it is blank then you need to add your user name.

This is simple just use the Add button. Then in the lower left hand side pick Advanced. Then hit find now. Then pick your name from the list and hit ok. You should then be able to pick full controll from the list.

If not then we need to use the Advanced tab at the bottom of the window. So click Advanced then head over to the owner tab. then pick your name. hit apply. head back to the permissions tab. Make sure your name is listed and that is says allow to the left, if not just use the edit tab and pick full controll. Then hit ok to close out the windows.

That should very well do it for you.
