Upcomming Quests?

Postby Algodon on Sat Jul 03, 2004 9:58 pm

Where can people find out about any upcomming quests? or do you just have to hang out at the bank until a GM possesses a quard and talks about it?

I think this is a good point, there should be quests that are posted some time ahead of time so that others can plan around it.

It's been some time since i my self have been on a quest, of course my hours per month have dropped off to around 40 - 50, but i guess we can't always play on the computer, but if i knew of a quest i would surely get on and join in.

Perhaps a seer will see fit to try this out for abit, just to see how many people show up.

Also, you and your fellow players can set up your own quests, Ed does the buffless hunt, that draws a fair number of people, atei has thrown some parties, even though it is just sitting and chatting friends are made that way.

Posting quests ahead of time is something that's been tried before, and basically, it just caused a few too many problems. The big problem is that it usually means that too many people show up for things to work out. 10 people on a quest is fun. 20 people on a quest is a huge lag-fest with lots of spam, confustion and multiple people talking at the same time so no one can figure out what's going on.

We actually tried this out rather recently, with the 'end of the Shadowpack' quest. Probably half the people who showed up wound of quitting halfway through in disgust and/or annoyance.

Besides, what fun is there in a planned quest. That sort of makes it a special group hunt not a quest. Quests are supposed to be spur of the moment fun packed goodness

Simon,

There would be like 5 people who wouldn't "sign up" to go on a quest, and those people don't go on them anyway.

The best idea from another shard I like to rant on about for quests is to have a .quest tag that teleports you to the quest starting area.. it worked really well, because there was a general shout out across the shard, or you could just type .quest when you logged in and be zapped somewhere; I really liked it.

But then WoD has a whole "RP but not REALLY RP" thing going on, so there's probably no chance of the game becoming like that - though just how "real" is looting corpses just as they hit the ground, while still fighting, drinking a potion and casting cure, while mounted?

Just have to wonder.. ;)
