Resurected my wifes account on grid.org since we are both running fairly highspeed systems now. But I have noticed something about the WOD team page. Though there are 40+ registered users on the page (39) active (2) retired. fewer than half are still doing anything.
So come on folks. Restart those clients (if you have them) or sign up and download it. It runs quietly in the back ground and only uses available cpu time. Thus not interfering with any other things you may be doing. Can also be set to run as a screen saver only.
This is for a good cause. They are currently crunching numbers for Cancer and Smallpox research.

Just went through and looked at all the current member stats. Out of 39 active accounts. 6 have returned results within the past month. 8 since January of this year. Comeon folks. Lets get them clients up and running for the wod team.
Besides. It keeps your comp busy during it's idle time. Thus preventing it from comtemplateing on how best to take over the world.

Thought there was more than 6 of us lol.
If youve got a good system you dont even have to worry about it lagging UO while you play. I'll pause it for real intense hunts or quests, but I normally have it running while I play (along with all my msgers and music and UOAM) and dont feel any lag.

Even on slower systems it works great. They did a good job with the clients cpu/memory use while other things are running. It backs off alot allowing the running program(s) all the cpu time they want.
The first machine the wife and I had that we ran it on was an old K6-2/450 based comp. The UD client (tho slow on that one) never once lagged out any other programs. BTW I have also ressurected that old comp to do nothing but sit in the back room crunching numbers. Giving us 3 clients running almost costantly.

join seti and discover the little green men well actually they are grey but what the heck is a little pigmentation tween friends. discover them and the world will remember your name forever while curing cancer is just a passing fad cause humans will just go find something else to die from.

Seti is a fun one as well. Working on revamping an older machine to run Seti on. Thinking of going with a stripped down linux kernel running only in commandline. Thus giving the linux command line client the greatest amount of resources.
Only if UD would develope a command line client for win32 or Linux. And grid use it. Work units would go alot faster.

am rather chuffed with myself as i just saw the 1000th data package gone by for seti on this machine. gives me a life time total of about 1600 or so. my current machine punches out a package about every 3 and a half hours running 24/7. which beats the crap out of the old p2 400 doing one in 3 days or so.

I just set up an old pentium 1 for just those programs, they are connected 24/7 working. last I check with SETI, I had something like 267, but I haven't had it for long

I think SETI@home is more important program, thus I run it when my computer is idle (which is very rare).
