Re-installation dilemma.

Postby von Hel on Thu Feb 05, 2004 11:06 pm

I had to re-install my UO, and of course all my macros and things like that are now gone, but fortunately enough, I have the old installation in my old hard-drive, so what I'm asking for is: can I use some config files from the old install to get the macros etc. back (after all, I'm a bit too lazy to create everything as they were)?

i know how to get the macros back, go into the Ultima Online/Desktop folder and and find the shard and account and player name folders. in there should be macros.txt, copy and paste into same shard/player folder and you got your old macros back ;)

Actually you should be able to delete (or move or rename) the whole desktop directory from the new install and drop the old one in and save all your old settings.

Eldric's right. I've done it a dozen times. Copying the whole desktop folder from one installation to another--one version of UO to another even--works pretty smoothly.

Thanks, it did work. Even though I couldn´t get my old resolution back (it made the whole screen freeze and go grey and when I moved mouse around, there came these visible, game "tiles" around  ), but everything works just fine as I got my macros back.

Wild guess, but try changing the resolution in the options screen, log out, completly close the client then log back in, then try changing it back to what you want, again log out close the client and then log back in.

I did have that problem once, but I can't for the life of me remember for sure what it was that fixed it.
