Leadership question

Postby Crozius on Wed Mar 17, 2004 8:35 pm

I'm curious as to why it's better to have 110 leadership opposed to 100? To my knowledge, the henchies can have your strength, int, dex as either your lowest stat, or you leadership. However, I think that it'd be rather hard to spec a character with over 100 strength. Also, I think (not sure) that their skills cannot go past yours.

Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!

Good question. I'd like to know the answer too. The way I understood it was that leadership is only relevant when your henchmen join you for the first time (for that's when they get their stats/skills); that means you'd only want to use that indy buff of leadership whenever you hire a new henchman (henchpeople?). Could someone tell me if this is true?

How long does it take? I've have my henchmen using a bow for several months, and it's only up to 'journeymen' and that's with his +10 buffs.

How high is your archery, Crozius? The henchies level of expertise is based on yours at the time you hired them.

You may want to fire and re-hire them, if your archery has gone up since you first hired them.

From the manual: When the henchperson joins you they will get the same skills at the same levels you have. The only skills that will change are their combat skills. Combat skills are swords, maces, fencing, archery, parry and tactics. All other skills will remain where they were set when they joined up. Skills are capped at your leadership + 20%. If you have 100 leadership your henchperson's skills are capped at 120%.

My archery was 60 when I hired them, and it's still 60 now. But, since the cap is 20%, does that means that their archery can go up to...(calculating) 72 without buffs? And 82 with buffs?

It's 120% of your leadership skill, I think.

I believe their skills advance just as slow as ours do when we don't pay for it.

From my understanding, they don't have an infinite number of deaths. The number of deaths that your henchie can have is based on your skill level divided by ten. So if your skill level is 110%, they have eleven deaths, as opposed to ten. After that, they can't be rezzed.

Ah, the deaths things slipped my mind. Thanks Tristan.

However, I'm still sketchy on the skills.

No the skillcap for your henchies is your leadership + 20%.

Your leadership 60, henchie skill max 72 + Buffs
Your leadership 80, henchie skill max 96 + Buffs
Your leadership 100, henchie skill max 120 + Buffs
Your leadership 110, henchie skill max 132 + Buffs

Your melee skills affect the henchie skills only at the time you are hiring them.

By training them and keeping them alive, they train to be better than yourself.

If they die, their skills reset / drop. I cannot recall exactly how this was, but i will check.

If i remember correctly when they are ressed the skills are lower of the following: Your Leadership, Your current melee skills. Same as Hiring them.

Tip of the day, Have your Natures Blessing on when hiring them, or have someone to cast it on you.
Same with skill buffs...

You save lots of time in training =)

Since this is a henchie forum and I have just recently delved into the magical world of Leadership, (which I absolutely love BTW,) I figured this would be a good place to ask this question:

How do I get my Henchies to fire frost bolts or fire bolts? I tried only placeing those types in their packs and they say they have no ammo.

Orion,

From the changes section, dated 2-26-04:

Henchmen have learned now to use fire and frost arrows and bolts
You still need to supply them with normal ammo, but if you also give them the special ammo, they'll use it appropriately
'Appropriately' means that if they're fighting a creature that's weak against fire, they'll automatically switch to fire ammo for that fight. Normally, though, they'll use the basic ammo
