Linder and the Staff of Summoning

And please forgive me if I forget to name anyone that was involved in the quest
A long time ago, like 2 Fridays ago, a group of us were sitting in the bank socializing and scribing. Suddenly the doors opened and in walked the druid Linder. Apparently he had not been seen for some time.
After exchanging salutations and introductions made, Linder proceeded to tell us about a group of Mountain Trolls that were holed up in the valley northeast of Britain. He said that they were guarding a Chieftain that was in possession of a black Staff of Summoning. This was apparently interfering with Linder's experiments, so he asked us to clear out the trolls.
A force was assembled including Quzar, Tyros Gryphon, Gift Krieger, Zhou, Skeeter Byrch, and Thag. We set out for the mountain pass and were promptly assaulted by a number of Mountain Trolls, Marksmen, and Shamans. We were split into two groups during the fighting... not only that, but it seems that most of those involved were "sucked into the Void" (that is, they logged for one reason or another).
The ones that were left went back to town to regroup. Eventually we went back to the pass and proceeded to destroy the remaining forces. The trolls were reinforced by a number of Shabooli warriors, but they all fell in the end. Unfortunately, Thag and Quzar were slaughtered during the fight. The troll chieftain proved to be a tough match but he was destroyed in the end.
We returned to Britain bruised (some moreso than others), proudly carrying the the Staff of Summoning.
