The rigging creaked as the tillerman threw his back against the rudder to bring the ship parallel to the shoreline. I hummed an old tune from Cat Stevens as I vaulted from the gangplank and drydocked the ship. It has been a good fishing expedition this time. I only nearly died twice instead of several times and I had filled two packs full of pungent fish, soggy sandals, treasure maps and MIBs. I smiled quietly as I turned around and then gasped! A huge, undulating mass of gelatinous tissue slid squealchingly across the ground towards me. It had to be the mother of all slugs. Hmm, in fact, it was called a Mother Slug, how coincidental!
I whipped my shield and mace into place and smacked it resoundingly. The huge slime slumped into a rather awful mess at my feet, around my feet, up against the nearby building and trailed partially into the water. This thing was huge...but wimpy. I chortled to myself as another slid around the building. This one roared as it attacked. Roared? I suddenly had a feeling things were not all kosher in WoD. The red glowing Mother Slug took two bites out of me and halved my strength. That is quite a feat because slimes don't have teeth but it managed to do it.
I did what any heroic adventurer would do, I ran! Quickly, Darlin galloped around the building and before us, the entire square was filled with writhing, undulating masses of slimy flesh that were quite hungry for my all too human flesh. I dashed through the teleporter, up the lane to my house, ducked inside and slammed the door. I didn't think any followed me but I wasn't taking any chances. I msg'd several of the adventurer's who were roaming the land at that time and regretfully, I faded away because I had a prior task to perform in the other world.
A couple hours later I returned to find Jhelom fairly cleared. I spoke with Sachiko and met her at her house. We talked a bit and then conversed with a new adventurer, Wolfie. I told Wolfie I'd give her (I think it was a she. ) some armor when Sachiko and I had finished clearing out Jhelom. Unfortunately, when the evenings entertainment was over, Wolfie was nowhere to be found so Wolfie, if you are reading this, next time I see you I have something for you!
I found out that there had been dire happenings in the World during my absence. Serpent's Hold was overrun with ghouls, Jhelom with giant slimes and death bunnies and Covetous full of uber lizards. The Covetous tour was supposedly wild and unorganized. I am not sure what happened there but it sounds like it was a wild and wooly time! Hopefully not too many people lost their lives. I had missed quite an eventful evening! I only wish that I could have been in Serpent's Hold to see Buster running about wildly, helpfully flushing out deadly swarms of ghouls. Buster, be careful, you might get tied up and stuffed in a treasure chest if you don't stay with the group next time!....or worse.
muuuUUAAHhahaHahhaha <---ominous laugh, in case you were wondering.
Sachiko and I scoured Jhelom and found one slime but a veritable swarm of death bunnies. One of them was quite tough and had vicious poison. We went from top to bottom and decided everything was safe again in the island city. Then, Covenant Atei msg'd me and spoke of herds of vicious death bunnies in the swampland far NW of Britain. He had someone summon me and we joined the group that was there.
Shadowstone, Sachiko, Borimir, Jake, Sam, Lagger Stee, Mordrid, Covenant Atei, Camus Vandali, Kasia Stydoran, Lagger Stee, Ogden, Elwen Dragonfire combed the swamps, brushed out bunnies, clipped their ears, and looted their cute, furry l'il carcasses. A couple of those names are henchies, mind you. It was difficult and tedious for the critters seemed to breed like rabbits! Everytime we thought we had cleared a section, more would pop up a few minutes later. There was only one death during this extended battle. That is because we stuck close together for the most part. Bunnies appeared and we all focused on them and then to the next. Quite a team effort it was and proved once again that WoDians can rise above any odds if they work together.
We finally cleared the swamp, at least to our knowledge, and returned to the Britain bank to regale each other with stories of the adventure and to split the loot. I know this tale lacks my usual depth of detail but I am greatly fatigued and beg all your pardons. I imagine this weekend will hold great wonders and tests for us all. Be alert, be wary, and watch out for wabbits.
