It's used to create a server, to which others can connect (or link) to. It allows you, and the connected players to see each others' location, chat and use a few other features.

Is anyone willing to set up such a host for WOD users to link to so that their characters' locations may be quickly discerned in the event of an emergency? If not, does anyone have ideas how I might become such a host?

...

Well, I gave it a shot. Apparently punching a hole in the company's firewall so that I can serve doezens of game players' map requests kind of violates our internet usage policy--go figure. We don't have any computers at home that aren't laptops, and laptops make rottn servers if you plan on letting others access them. I'm out of luck. Does anyone else want to give it a try?

I had set one up before but it was not highly used, but I am willing to try again :)

So.... There is again a UOAM server setup now that will link any WoD Player or group of players. It is on my webserver, so it should be available 24/7.

To use it you need to pull down the link menu in UOAM and select 'Link Controls'. Be on the 'Link' tab and then enter :

Your Player Name
Ip Address: 216.113.200.75
Port: 2000
Password: wodplayer

Check the box that says 'Remember IP & Password'

then click the 'Link to Server' button

You should now be linked to anyone else in Wod in the wodplayer group

The above password will be set as a common password for anyone playing on WoD where you all can see each other.

If you feel a need to set up a group of players that are seperate from the rest of the WoD Players, (eg for a mini quest or a hunt of some kind), then that can easily be done as well as follows:

All players in one group need to use the same password to be able to see each other. So.... for your own group, each player would use exactly the same info as above BUT change to a different password. All players in the same group will need to enter the same password.

If there are any problems or anyone needs clarification or help, just contact me.

I'm going to make a habit of connecting to that whenever I play, hope to see others on there as well.
It'll be a big help with things like finding dead people.

For the pure voyeuristic pleasure of knowing where everyone is all the time, this is making my day! Twice today I didn't have time to really play (5 minutes here or there), but I did have UOAM running, and I could play a little vicariously.

hmm...

Well, that router went bad and the shard connection was down again. Maybe that's why?
