Permanent stat loss?

Postby Oin Zea on Fri May 28, 2004 12:46 am

Can mages permanently lower your stats? If not then I am bug.

I was at 82 STR, and after fighting one mage now I am at 72. Lost 10. My henchmen have been train up to 80 and I am wearing armor that can’t be on me with 72.

This was hours ago, besides .status show I am at no magical effect.

Hi,
I don't mean to be simple here but... did you try just closing your paper doll and reopening it?

Also, is there a chance you have changed the .specced skills on your character? Compare your stats against those shown in the .spec command.

People I am not new to POL. I have been playing for years on pol and have a little experience on scripting on a home base shard base on pol. My best answer to this problem is.

When the mage curse me, he lower all my stats –10 (str/int/dex) at that state I gain a free stat increase. I thing the script that record the free stat gain recorded me with the course in effect making it permanent.

Take it easy, did you happen to die? alot of people have magic rings and such, and when they die they forget to throw them back on.

Pardon my temper Sr., I get easily irritated when I don’t get a sane answer.

Well, magic jewelry you say? I don’t know about wod but I believe that the highest you can modify is +5? Yes? Well again I say I lost 30 stat, ea –10 STR, -10 INT, -10 DEX, wish was the effect of a curse spell from a mage. If there are only 4 jewelry slots ea. Necklace, ring, bracelet, earrings, wish will only go up to 20 max. Makes sense?
30-20=10? Maybe I should open and close my paper doll for the other 10 to come back?

Ultimately, there's no way for temp buff mods to truely become permanent (because of the way that they're written and the way that POL works.) They can become semi-persistant, in that they stay around until the server restarts, but will automatically be fixed after that (POL doesn't save temporary buffs through a restart.) This can happen, rarely, though a bug that I've never been able to track down because it is so rare.

Anyway, its been a day now, so there's probably been a restart since you noticed that. If you're not fixed, then are you sure you didn't mess around with .spec?
