I'm thinking of getting this game, but seeing as I know absolutely nothing about hooking up the internet to my PS2 I'm slightly worried I won't be able to figure it out.
Has anyone here played it for PS2? If so, was the hook-up procedure easy or a pain?
As it stands right now, my plan is to have the internet cable from my computer (which is broadband)detach and at the times I feel like playing FFXI on PS2, I'd hook it up to me PS2. Would this be possible?
Thanks!

The PS2 has a broadband kit yes? if so then i would just get a router for between the DSL/cable modem and PC/Ps2/xbox/gamecube or whatever else wants ethernet.
Its not all that hard to setup. Tons of info can be found online

I have the network kit for the PS2, its not that difficult to setup. They have a disk you install on your memory card. Once you install the drivers and configure the network its real easy to use. I have a router since I have more than one computer, I just keep my ps2 hooked up on it. Its not too hard to disconnect the connection to the computer and hook it up to the ps2.

I'd advise one thing before buying FF11 though. Keep in mind that you will be playing on a MMORPG world with sooooo many idiots and l33ters it's not funny. These reasons alone is enough to keep me from even wasting my money heh..

If I just disconnect the cable from my computer and then attach it to my PS2, do I need a router?
Thanks!

That and the fact that it's all done with a console controller instead of a keyboard and mouse.

You can buy a key board for it
. As for the mouse, I'm not too sure. I think the controller will handle it well.
(And just to repeat myself, incase no one reads the above post):

You don't NEED a router, but it sure comes in handy. Heck, they're nowhere near the price they used to be. You can pick up a decent one now for between 30-70 dollars. A lot easier than having to disconnect and reconnect your cable constantly.
Just my 2gp.
