Overkill?

Postby Summer Myst on Wed Mar 10, 2004 5:31 pm

Is it me or does it seem a tad lazy to hunt Brit Cem with a dragon and a Master Uba Swordsman? :|

IT IS HIGHLY FROWNED UPON! I hope they don't intend to make a habbit of it.

that would seem to fall under the category "things frowned upon by adults". :(

It would depend, if i were to one day get a tamer/druid and get me a nice new dragon, i would go to the newbie places to test it out, better to die where help is a few feet away then to go off and learn the hard way

it's sort of an unwritten rule that brit gy is
"reserved" for [young]s and players not much part that level

I take my lesser guys there to hunt, they couldn't hunt other places, the brit GY seems to be for the lesser char. out there with 70 str and low skills you won't get very far hunting else where

With 70 str + buffs, and fighting/healing skills 60 or better you can safely do the upper levels of covetous/despise/wrong. The period of time that your character is limited to the brit graveyard (IF you have been hunting on a regular basis) is quite short. I'd say in a week or less of active hunting your newbie character should be ready to move on onto better, more profitable hunting areas.

It depends on how much time you spend online, how many vendor jobs and quests you do to raise your stats, etc., but within 1-3 weeks, everyone should be able to move out of the Brit GY and surrounding areas and start trying the first levels of some of those dungeons. Of course, dealing with mages (generally the next hurdle you face after the GY) is a lot tougher and may require much different strategies which take time to learn. But anyone with a dragon and an advanced Swordsman should be able to handle those challenges easily.

Skara Farmlands I'd say is the first step up from brit gy/woods. It's basically the same mobs but more of them and a larger area. The next place to move to would be upper levels of some dungeons and the swampy area east of brit which start having casters.

this is like the fight over the newbie box, its for those who need it the most.

sure with buffs my guy could hunt other places, but who is going to buff me all the time?

you can't force someone to hunt the harder places

Precisely Simon. Newbie areas are for newbie players. You're not a newbie. You have the means and resources to manage to hunt in less crowded hunting areas. Even if your character is relatively new you know of other hunting places you can visit that will not interfere with a new player who barely knows how to find the bank. It sounds to me like you're arguing out of mere convinience rather than necessity.

help those players out, they should hunt there, they should also asked for help when 1st leaving the city, i read that some where, wonder where it was?

at any rate there are any number of places a newer guy could hunt, yes of course, skara brea farm lands come to mind, but must we forget guard quests that spawn there, do guard quests spawn in the brit GY?

there where a few seer quests there, if i recall that quest wasn't for newbies, killer chickens and all

Most people avoid taking quests in skara because theyre very hard to find and most newbs are intelligent enough to run away from red monsters.

not all guard quests are red, and most are casters, running into a grey caster while chasing down a headless one, all the while having little to no MR could ruin your day

points could be made on both sides of this issue

though i suspose if seer quests have been known to spawn in the GY it wouldn't be JUST for newbies then

I regularly hit brit gy if no one is there already and perform necromancy. I don't see any reason why to not do so, spawn is every 15-20mins so there should not be any problem with it.
