Hmmm , not exactly sure what you're talking about here, Bloodoak. If this is UOAutoMap you're using, then I can understand you thinking that the 'duplicated' parts of the *main* (i.e. Skara , Brit, Vesper, Nujel'm, etc) map as you scroll off one edge or another are usable areas, but that is really just an idiosyncracy of AutoMap. If you place your pointer in one of the apparently 'unused' areas, then rightclick and select 'move cursor here' , you'll find your cursor (and the map) has moved back to the central, labelled area again. AutoMap just continues the mapfile from the other edge as you scroll, but doesn't attach the label file to the scrolled areas.

There is a wide strip to the Eastern side - running from North to South - of segmented areas. You'll see large blocks divided up into smaller square segments, but if you zoom in on the defined ones (ones with actual pictures/maps in them), you'll find that they are really the different levels of the dungeons we all know and love. While WoD doesn't use all of the defined ones, the majority are being used. The 'segments' that are just plain green are the areas which used to be known on OSI as 'Green Acres'. They're flat, open sections of land, used on OSI (and I think here also) for the development people to try out new designs for items, creatures, houses, quests, etc. They're inaccessible to the normal player.

There is also a section of that strip which IS in reality mapped land, and is usable to WoD. On OSI it was populated and known as T2A (from The 2nd Age release) or The Lost Lands (as they were 'recovered' for player use). On OSI there were two towns, Papua to the North in the jungle, and Delucia to the SouthWest by the mountains. There were also a few hostile establishments populated by monsters. The towns and lands exist here on WoD, but they're unpopulated, and even if you should be able to find your way into T2A, it is discouraged by the administration (I know from personal experience! ), as they use the lands also for development and special quests. Insofar as I know, there are at the time no plans to making T2A open to the general playing population.

But, all told, the only areas of the map that we don't use are a *few* of the Dungeon squares, the 'Green Acres' squares, and the Lost Land of T2A.

This is all based on my personal knowledge and speculataion. Don't be surprised if someone jumps in to correct me :)

Some of the Lost Lands are open to us, Like the Snowy area in the northern part. Its accessable by going through Ice. Its spawned with Ice Trolls, frost skeletons, Snow Monsters, Ice Elementals, and snow orcs. Most of T2A is buggy, so they block it off. They have held a few quests there, I believe the Piliar of flame quest was held in t2a.
