WoD Manual / WoD UOAM Server

Postby Julia Darkheart on Tue Apr 13, 2004 4:57 pm

I was just wondering if my IP somehow got blocked or something. I can no longer access the manual or the UOAM Server. Seems the IP *edit* for the manual and UOAM server *end edit* is refusing my connection. I've not changed any of my setting or updated any software. This just happened out of the blue. I even attempted to connect with my firewall disabled. It just will not let me connect to that IP. IF i could never connect to it, I'd be inclined to think it was my system, but I could connect before.

Any help out there? Please?

I have no problem getting to the Manual following the link at the top of the page. Possibly something has changed on your end? I would suggest re-marking the page as a bookmark and see if that solves the problem.

As for the UOAM server, I am able to link to it using the directions Aardwolf gave us in the "General Shard" discussion thread.

I am no computer expert, but these sound like maybe a cache issue? Have you cleared your cache recently? If the cached page is outdated or had its IP changed for whatever reason, then that could be the problem. *Disclaimer: I am not an expert! :D

Good luck!

I linked to them just fine before.. this just suddenly happend and I am getting a connection refused error. Nothing has changed on my end at least not till I couldn't connect, then, I tried disabling my firewall, thinking it was me, then entirely uninstalling it. I fix computers for a living, so I kinda know my stuff, and unless there is something new, there is nothing wrong on my end. Thanks for atleast answering though hon.

There's really not much that I can do to help you with your problem, as both the WoD manual and UOAM server are run by Aardwolf. You could try sending him an email or a PM on the boards...

Sorry for the late reply, I have been out of town with virtually no Internet access for the last 3 weeks (read dialup connection of about 20K), and I am leaving at the end of this week for another 3 (both trips for medical reasons).

I had already PM'd Julia when I saw this post also.

Because it appears to be just 1 person who lost access, it was most likely the firewall on the server. The firewall software that is on the server that hosts both the manual & the UOAM server does a really good job of auto-blocking ANY IP address that it even thinks is accessing the server incorrectly. The autoblocks are placed for 24 hours and then removed unless I set them manually for longer. 99.99% of the time it is correct, but the other .01% of the time it blocks due to a corrupted request and this is probably what happened here.

If anyone feels that they have been blocked from the manual server, please PM me your IP address & I can check it against the firewall logs and remove the block manaully if that is what has happened.

Hey Aardwolf hope the medical crap goes well and isn't too serious. placing yourself into the hands of the medical types is a scary proposition now. never know when they will be overcome with the urge to bring out the rubber gloves etc
