Polymorph

Just casted polymorph and it lasts about 60 seconds instead of the new 40 minutes. Bug? :P

P.S.

In addition, it seems that lizard archers now have reflect, OR all of my spells just reflect on their own. I about killed myself! :)

I'm guessing bug, but ...

While a one minute duration might be a bit short, converting lich+poly to short duration buffs (3-5 minutes) basically for use in a specific, sort, combat, wouldn't really be a bad thing.

Hmmm .. I think I must respectfully disagree with you on this one Eldric - at least on a couple points.
1St off , I can't say anything bout Lich cause I don't have a Necro. But my mage type chars use Poly for more than just combat (like mana increases for scribing). And, even in combat I think 3-5 mins is a bit too short *UNLESS* you can get some sort of warning prior to the expiration time. Even with the 26+ mins I get now I occasionally forget to check the remaining time (but that's MY prob, not something I'm complaining about). Shortening the length of the effect in a combat situation along the lines you're suggesting would , IMHO, cause a lot of "unexpected" lapses, and generate problems (read 'Deaths' :) .

Poly and other buff changes

Postby Harley on Mon Mar 22, 2004 8:20 pm

Well I cast all my buffs. Built a fire and remaxed mana. Cast a gate spell and before I could go through gate my poly dropped. I cast it last. So we are talking only a few seconds duration. 30 seconds max. I have 108% magery. Recently changed character to get the magery bonus. Plus with the change to protection I got a +6 vice the +20 I typically get. Sorry this is not a slight change. I do hope its a bug. Hate to have to limit myself to fighting mongbats. (A slight stretching of things but not by much.) I have never been extremely happy with buffs being required to fight any tough creature on WOD but this is not the change I would have asked for :o) Sort of takes the fun out of changing my skill set to get 255 bonus and lowering my strength so I CAN'T wear plate when I now lose practically all the advantages it was supposed to give me in compensation.

I was assuming that this was a "balance" sort of change. But, it appears somewhat buggy or highly restrictive. Tanks aren't gaining anything from this unfortunately, just mages types are being penalized.

Why not leave things as it was for mages and boost tank abilities? Better tank buffs, etc, etc.

Leave the big cakes though so we can have our cakes and eat them too....as long as we slice them, of course.

Hmm, well I just played around a bit and it isn't all doom and gloom.

Wand buffing seems to have picked up a few points, I seem to be getting in the 15-17 range instead of the old 12-16 range, and the time has bumped up a bit to 38 minutes from the old 28 minutes.

Casting the buff spells even at 60 magery seems to be giving a duration of 24 minutes vs the old 17 minutes.

Granted none of these are huge bonuses but they are nice little bonuses.

As to adding tank-buffs/abilities or the like, I've seen the sorts of silliness that can happen when skill/monster inflation runs wild so I tend to think of "nerf" fixes as the better course.

I just tried casting polymorph. Same thing happened to me. Did not keep the buff for even a minute. Must be a bug.At least hopes that it is :? As a mage/druid I need that poly buff.

Ravi,
Any additional information on this? Nobody else who has posted to this thread has mentioned a problem like this.

Where was this - one of Covetous levels? I'd like to take a mage and see if it happens to me.

Polymorph lasted 40 minutes on Eis. Drocket must have fixed it or something. :)

Think you could fix the itty bitty little debug message now when we cast Polymorph? :D
