I've killed ancients before, just not 2 at the same time. That's dumb to try solo. You need to seperate them.

the trick to it is pretty simple. disarm and stand between them. when they breath on you they hit each other and aggro. duck out from between the unhappy behemoths and heal up. then just finish off the maimed "winner" and gather up the loot. it's almost unsporting isn't it

You don't even have to disarm, just don't be on war mode when they attack. And you have to get away from them as fast as you can so that they won't forget they've been injured by another mob. If you just stand there and watch chances are they won't switch targets (at least not both of them).

It works with hellhounds and any other type of firebreathing or area-effect causing mob (frost drakes, spellcasting mobs that use area spells, etc)

For mages, hitting an invis scroll works.

Ooo, invis wands...

Writing these tactics makes Drocket tweak the AI.. and feeds my growing army of the Undead!
