I know some of you play Morrowind. How is it on the X-Box? Worth the investment?

Just to expand on it a little bit. Once you pick your stats you can't change them, you can make a new char and set it up with a new set of stats, but the game is pretty much a drag. Its really hard and long when you start out.

Daggerfall was buggy as hell too. Stealing items from the shop when it closed and reselling it abck to the shopkeep. Clicking where the up/down arrow would be on your stat sheet as if you leveled up.

I'm not sure whats going on with all the crappy programing. I have limited skill in C++ and i've seen some errors in their source code that stuck out even to me.

In morrowind on the xbox if you are running and pass into a a new zone there is a good chance your game will crash, you cannot tell me that in beta that didn't become painfully clear.

With a better save system, a non-boring way to make gold when you start out, a way to switch your skills in the middle of a game, having NPCs spawn at random after the main story is over so as to be able to play the game even more, have new tombs spawn.... all of that could have gone along way, it's a great game the 1st few times you play it, but it lacks overall replay value.

Played through the game 4 times on XBox, crashed 3 times. I'm sure I ran through more than a few zones. Your definition of "good chance" must differ from mine.

You can save anywhere, anytime so long as you aren't actively in a fight. By "better" do you mean pre-defined save spots like in Dark Alliance? No thanks. I like the anywhere/anytime deck.

Not hard to make gold, and most people have more gold than they'll ever spend by level 10 or so, which is about 5 hours into the game. If anything I always thought there were entirely too many simple ways to make gold. Drocket once started a game with his own self-imposed restrictions specifically because it was too easy to level and make gold. He was determined to minimize leveling and item hording (how did that work out for you Drocket? :P ).

Any player can have any skills. That's sorta what the skill system is in a nutshell. Now, yes, you can only max out your primes and there's a high cap on Seconds, ala WoD. Kinda felt like home to me, but meh, to each his own.

After the game is over? Mmm k.

I would characterize it as the most replayable single player RPG ever made.

If you own an XBox and like RPGs, buy the GotY edition of Morrowind. It's $20 new, less in the baragin bin. Great game by good devs over at Bethesda. Support em. :D

Well I gave the game a shot and rented it over the weekend. To be honest, I was bored. It had it's moments, but overall, the game seemed too big. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

Maybe I'll give Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes a shot. It's a cheapy title.

I love the game, hehe. There are so many differnt ways to plays and differnt things to do. You can stick with the main plot, or free lance. The wide range of skills allows you to play with so many differnt ways to play. You can keep be a good little boy and just kill mosnters or you can be a backstabbing assassin and murder towns people and steal theirs goods... the ways to play are endless and there is alwasy something new to do... even though it is a bit more buggy then one would wish, I love the game though, hehe

I love the game because of its acrobatics skill. I had my wood elf doing crazy jumps, jumping onto buildings and then sniping people with his bow. Also doing some breaking and entering and what not. There is a main plot, but you can ignore it if you want. I also made a Nord Barbarianesq character and began the dificult task of trying to KILL EVERYTHING. While it sort of screwed with the plot it did allow me to go through with it. I didn't ever finish that mission though.. just too many npcs.

The quests could be better, most of them were really simple, although doing all the guild and house quests was nice.

But yes.. best thing about the game.. acrobatics.

Has anyone else managed to jump onto the top of one of the Vivee Cantons?

Morrowind owns. :D Too bad my Radeon 9000 PRO is so crappy that it doesn't even play games properly any more. In any case, I'll be diving into it again as soon as I replace my video card.

Jump on Vivec Canton's roof ... why jump, when you can fly? As the slit striders would say, "Why walk, when you can ride?" :) Constant Effect Levitation Enchantment is the greatest thing about this game. It serves to remind you that you can even grow to be a god in the game.

As for getting money - easiest thing in the whole game. Just use the +/- buttons in the barter screen and have some mercantile. (Yes, I'm aware of the mercantile bug) It's the only way to increase mercantile anyway. If you have time you can probably make around 200k gold in several hours. I know I did it. :)

Morrowind is great. Everything you'd like in a RPG game. Only the fighting system lacks variety, but apart from that, it's the RPG game that all RPG fans SHOULD have!

And while I can't talk for the X-BOX version, I too would classify MW as the most replayable RPG ever. The plugin support of the PC version makes it essentially infinitely replayable. And the community is still alive to this day. If you think you have done everything, why don't you download a new guild plugin for example. :) Or even a total conversion, or a new landmass. The possibilities are endless.

At least for the PC version. :)

I had morrowind for xbox, the original release since it came out and sold it about 3 months ago. To be honest, it wasnt that great of a game in my opinion. After the inital thrill of it all, it was pretty much repitition of things, most of which were either to easy or to hard. Then a friend showed me how to get the 2nd most powerful armor and weapon in the entire game right after you create your character without cheating and that was pretty much that! I havent gotten to play the gold version with the new additions, it would be nice to play a werewolf I think, but even that isnt enough to make me want to buy it again!
