Would it be possible to add something so that the guard can tell us how many hides we've turned in total?

Guards use the default loot items from guard quests. That usually means gold, but with each quest you complete (or in this case, hide you turn in), there's an increasing chance that they'll give you a special reward (and then the counter resets.) The special reward can be magical items, or in some cases, locked chests or backpacks with random items in it.

Ok, if you say 'status' to Lt. Malark, he'll tell you how many hides you've turned in.

A couple of other minor tweaks: The shadowpack leaders now give 3 hides instead of 2, and I'm sorry to say that I slightly lowered the amount of virtue you get turning the hides in. It was just a bit insane before...

I think the guards need to be turned off in this area. I've noticed a few people using the guards, and Lt. Malark, to kill the shadowpacks in upwards of 20+ shadowpacks. I won't state any names, (unless asked directly by a GM). You know who you all are, and this is a quest with a prize at the end.
If you can't win this on your own, don't hunt there. Plain and simple. This could easily be construed as using a bug for profit or gain, which is a violation of the rules. Just my 2 cents.

Guards should be tweaked so they don't kill shadowpacks. That'd solve the problem. Otherwise, it can be assumed that is an acceptable method. If it is not acceptable then the Staff should state that. It is also quite possible that players may run for safety towards the Abbey (which isn't safe because shadowpacks can open doors, even without hands!) and inadventently use Guard assistance that way. Bottomline, don't assume someone is using a bug without knowing the facts.

It would be nice if we didn't make to make rules or code scripts for things that people should do voluntarily: twinkish playstyles are lame.

But you know as well as anyone else that there will always be lame players who will take advantage of anything not specifically forbidden, and even then, they'll be tempted. With WoD's player base, we don't have as many problems in this regard as other shards but it doesn't hurt to make things clear and/or enforce appropriate playstyles.

I've watched these couple of people pull hordes of shadowpacks to the guards for 4 days now. He (they) bring about 4 or more of them, rest and reheal the guards, then go back out and do it again repeatedly. Think it's safe to say that they are using the guards.

Yeah, that is rather cheesy and lame, I have to admit. They should have their attitude adjusted by a GM!

This has been a problem since the quest started. A lot of the people wont stop even when asked to or told to repeatedly. WoD members should know better, but some of them either dont, or just dont care.

Makes you almost wish this wasn't a non-pvp shard, eh?

Using guards to kill things for you is something that's on my to-do list to fix. I plan to make it so that if a guard does more than 50% of the damage to a mob, no loot is produced (or if you prefer, the guard takes the loot...)

you might wish to make it that if guards do a cumulative 50% or more of the damage they take the loot. that way a person cannot use a couple of guards to skip around the restriction. you might also wish to have the guard say something to attract the players notice to the taking of the loot. something like "hey bob nice tempered tactics buff you just got off that xxxx you killed just now". or do you think that would be rubbing salt into the wound hehe.
