vendor prices

Postby Bruno_McNeal on Sat Mar 13, 2004 2:45 pm

It has come to my attention from my son, that he has been informed a couple times now by players with vendors, to not buy their goods from them and resell them.

1st. I was not aware WoD had become a democracy, and people were being told how they had to live or play on this shard.
2nd. Don't sell your wares at a certain price and delegate to others that it's only for certain people to buy.
3rd. (He makes a valid point) Stores and people buy items from other stores or people and markup the price all the time. It's called business, (ask Donald Trump). Once you put an item at a certain price on your vendors to sell, it's none of your business what the consumer that buys the product does with it. You don't see Wal-mart telling their consumers what to do with the products they sell, don't do it here, either.

Not meaning to flame here, and hope I don't offend anyone, but I love how stupid issues like these blow people out of whack, and issues like older players STILL wiping out the newbie areas, get brought up and then forgotten or not reinforced.
In short: If you don't want someone to take profit out of your pocket, don't sell cheap!

Yeah, that happens. Some vendor equipped players are unhappy about that practice. Tell your son to head out to Occlo to my vendor, Anna, just north of the Occlo bank. She has rather cheaply priced items and he can buy it all! Wheee, make my day!

*laughs* Nice ironic phrasing. But, to be honest, anywhere you go in the real or virtual world, people will feel it is their duty to tell others how to live "right".

Tell your son not to worry about it. If he prices things too high, they won't sell and he'll be stuck with 'em and he'll have to lower prices. The original vendors are still making their profit so they really should have no complaint.

I am strongly against re-sellers. People should get stuff(mostly material) without loosing their whole stash, i use names now. Moldrake has been moving up stuff from my and previously from Nox's vendors to sell em on higher price, things from my vendors are meant to be sold to people who need em. Not to people who just stick em on their vendor.

Right there is what I'm talking about. If you put something for sale on your vendor at a price, you have no right to tell the consumer what he can do with the item, once he's paid YOUR ASKING PRICE for said item. That person can make it into toilet paper if they want to at that point. Heck, if you put like 40 hides on your vendor for 1 gold, and someone comes along and buys them then sells them to an NPC vendor for 3, that's YOUR problem. You should have sold it for more to begin with. So, if you sell an item for under market value, and someone comes along and buys it for your price and sells it to someone else for a profit, I say bully to them; your stupidity, not theirs.

Did this issue come back again? Reselling isn't looked highly upon. In theory if i set something at a price and it sells very well what should i care right? It comes back to keeping the vendors stocked at a fair price. Its very hard to do when someone buys you out then marks everything up a few GP.

Yes it did. It is kind of like when you eat too much really spicy food and you keep tasting it for hours.

Reselling isn't looked highly upon.

Thanks for your opinion. It'd be nice if you said "Reselling isn't looking highly upon, by me." That'd make it clearer.

ZACKLY! Especially when you get the profit you desired.

Ah well, guess that means more busy work for crafty type characters.

Ok, i made my choice, i remove my vendors.
....
Edit: Vendors are locked inside, no more sales.

I do support players that craft! I buy from player vendors all the time.

If I buy from player vendor Z who bought their inventory from player vendor Y who in turn bought THEIR inventory from player vendor X whos owner actually crafted the items, then I am supporting all three. All three made profit as well. So what is the freakin' problem?

So is there then no room on WoD for people who wish to sell stuff on thier vendors at a low price to the end user?

Didn't say that, Eldric. Just said that people shouldn't get upset if someone buys something they sell, then resells it. Bound to happen, sometimes.
